  Cornerstone Christian Fellowship

We are a charismatic, word-of-faith church. We believe in and move in the gifts of the Spirit and seek to hear God's voice and follow His direction in all that we do. We are His servants.

The church is are called "Cornerstone" because Jesus Christ is "...the stone the builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:11-12

Our members come from all walks of life, including some people who have been set free from cults such as the Jehovah's Witnesses. Some come from backgrounds of drug and alcohol abuse, and others from "heavy shepherding" abuse. All are now enjoying the liberty and peace that only Jesus Christ can give.

Pastor Tony Kelly

Tony was born and raised in North Staffordshire, England. He is married to Gill who is from Cheshire and they have two sons: Mark and Andrew, who are both born again. Tony and Gill live in Clayton, Newcastle.

Tony came from a very strong Catholic background and always thought of God as harsh and judgmental. To celebrate Tony's first day at work, his father took him to pub and he was raised to drink and have social drinking habit with rest of family.

Although he suffered from claustrophobia and a fear of darkness, Tony's first job was working in the mines of Staffordshire (Hem Heath Colliery). Unfortunately, the pit was closed in 1993 but since then God has provided for Tony and his wife. First Tony was able to go to Elim Bible College and then the Lord gave him the idea of opening a greetings card shop in which his wife could work.

Born Again

Pastor Tony was born again at the age of 26 (in Burslem, the same town in which he was born!). A work colleague called Raymond Peers told him about Jesus and took him to a Christian convention - where he was convicted of his sin and accepted Jesus as his Saviour.

As a result of the wonderful change in Tony, his marriage to wife Gill was greatly improved and after some years Gill also accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour.

The Call to the Ministry

Tony attended the Apostolic Church for 30 years, faithfully serving there. In 1978 he received a call to pastoral ministry, but had to wait 20 years before he would see it come to pass. While in the Apostolic Church, Tony helped pioneer another church which is now thriving. He served as a deacon, evangelist, district youth leader, then a leading elder overseeing the Apostolic Church in Tunstall before the Lord called him to pastor his own church.

Church Background

After much prayer and fasting, the Lord prompted Tony to start a prayer meeting in his greetings card shop, which soon became overcrowded and expanded to the room above. This was during September 1997, when Cornerstone Christian Fellowship began.
