Ministries

  Taxi Business

A Christian taxi company is run by the church, and is part of the ministry in two ways. Firstly, it provides opportunities for evangelism as drivers can share faith with customers. Secondly, the church has been able to train and employ people who have been unemployed, in some cases, for many years.

If you wish to find out more about this Christian taxi firm, or wish to book a taxi, please phone 01782 837817. Minibuses are also for hire.

  Card Shop

This is located within the general church building at 215 High Street, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. It is not only a commercial outlet but also a way of reaching the local community, and Tony's wife Gill has developed good relationships with many customers who drop in to share problems and have a cup of tea!

We are hoping to expand the shop in future to be a Christian Bookshop, and we also plan to locate an office within the shop which will act as a reception for the church and taxi business.

  Future Plans

  Night Shelter
There are problems of homelessness and drugs abuse in Tunstall, as in many towns. In response to this, Cornerstone plans to develop a night shelter within the church building complex with beds and facilities for four people and two wardens. Again, training will be provided for the wardens and this will produce employment for them.

Cornerstone has already obtained planning permission from Stoke-on-Trent City Council for the night shelter and completion of project is now subject to buying the buildings. At the moment, we are standing in faith for the money (£75,000), but we believe that God is able to provide the finances for the work which He has commissioned.

Training Workshops
This scheme would provide workshops for training the homeless/unemployed or those who have perhaps never had a trade. We already have builders who are prepared to act as instructors in joinery, general building and repairs. The church is in the process of establishing a company to organise this project, which is also subject to the purchase of our buildings. We are hoping eventually to include training for light engineering skills, welding etc.
